Use Remote Desktop on your Windows, Android, or iOS device to connect to a Windows 10 PC from afar.
I was directed here from the Microsoft Answers community site about my issue regarding Remote Desktop on my Surface 2 RT. I am trying to connect my Surface 2 to my Windows 8.1 Pro desktop (it has Media Center on it as well). The problem that keeps surfacing on the Surface 2 is the credentials. Applies to: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2. You can control a remote PC by using a Microsoft Remote Desktop client. The client can run on almost any device, including on your mobile smartphone. The client gives you the same powers you would have if you could reach the PC's keyboard. This issue occurs when you use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2 desktop from a low screen resolution device. When this issue occurs, you can only see the Start screen, but you can't switch to the desktop. Set up the PC you want to connect to so it allows remote connections:
Make sure you have Windows 10 Pro. To check, go to Start > Settings > System > About and look for Edition. For info on how to get it, go to Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.
When you're ready, select Start > Settings > System > Remote Desktop, and turn on Enable Remote Desktop.
Make note of the name of this PC under How to connect to this PC. You'll need this later.
Use Remote Desktop to connect to the PC you set up:
On your local Windows 10 PC: In the search box on the taskbar, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then select Remote Desktop Connection. In Remote Desktop Connection, type the name of the PC you want to connect to (from Step 1), and then select Connect.
On your Windows, Android, or iOS device: Open the Remote Desktop app (available for free from Microsoft Store, Google Play, and the Mac App Store), and add the name of the PC that you want to connect to (from Step 1). Select the remote PC name that you added, and then wait for the connection to complete.
The Run command for Windows Remote desktop application is Mstsc
Just open Run from start menu and type mstsc in the text box next to open and press enter.
This command mstsc can be used from command line too.
A system running Windows 7/Windows 10 allows only one remote desktop connection at a time, means only one remote user can work on it any time. A computer running Windows server edition can support remote sessions for multiple users at the same time.

Verypc driver download for windows. Every time we connect to the server it opens a new user session. To avoid this we can open a connection to the console. This allows us to login back to the same user session if we already have one. To do this we need to add /console switch to the mstsc command.
This command can be run from command prompt or from Run window.
Run command for opening remote desktop session in full screen mode
Add /f switch to the command.
Run command for specifying the remote computer name from the command itself
Use /v switch in this case.
Run command to specify remote desktop connection settings using a rdp file
A RDP file can be created using the ‘Save As‘ button in the General tab in mstsc(Remote desktop connection client) window.
These commands work on XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2003/2008 operating systems.

There is no Run command for opening remote desktop connection manager directly. It is usually installed in the path C:Program FilesRemote Desktop Connection ManagerRDCman.exe. By specifying this complete path we can launch connection manager.
